Funding

 The Halifax Refugee Clinic opened in early 2000 because of a desperate need for legal aid and social services for newly arrived refugees claiming political asylum in Canada. Until that time, refugees were unilaterally responsible for preparing their application to the Refugee Board, finding accommodation, and integrating into Canadian society: all of this in addition to the anxiety and trauma of leaving their own country under the threat of persecution.

Since opening its doors, The Halifax Refugee Clinic has assisted hundreds of refugee claimants, many more than anticipated. The Clinic relies on funding by way of private grants and public donations from citizens and businesses. We are constantly at risk of being under funded.

Cheques should be made payable to The Halifax Refugee Clinic. The Clinic is a registered charitable organization. Receipts for donations will be provided upon request.
