The majority of people who find themselves caught in the refugee situation also find themselves economically displaced from their livelihoods; furthermore, their ability to earn an income during their first few months upon arrival in Canada is severely restricted.
It is in light that the Refugee Clinic is always in need of support from our community members and civic organizations in assisting our clients meet some of their immediate needs that go beyond their legal and settlement needs – financial and/or material assistance, such as...
Bus tickets to enable clients to travel to and from the clinic; as well as travel to appointments for their immigration, settlement and employment.
- Personal care items for both men and women – Refugees often have nothing, they are in need of such things as sanitary napkins, toilet paper, shaving sticks/foam, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bath and laundry soap, any day-to-day item you might use - they need.
- Clothing, socks, shoes, boots
- Blankets, pillows, cooking utensils - any household items
